BioniX Wallpaper - BioniX Wallpaper supports JPG, GIF, BMP, ICO, EMF image files. Soon it will support more image types. This program lets you set the time interval at wich your deskop wallpaper will be changed. You can chose it between one secon and a few years - time elapse gauge. Also, the wallpaper manager has "don't disturb user" mode (through "automatic shut down" option): images will be changed automatically when Windows starts, then the program will close without user intervention. Like Winamp, Bionix Wallpaper gives you the posibility to gather images from all over the hardisk in one playlist, without changing their physical location. The images can be stored in different directories, on different harddisks, even on different computers. Also, you can make multiple tematic playlists and switch between them whenever you want to. It is easy to interact with the playlists through "Playlist Editor" or "MiniList". This wallpaper cyler supports more then 50.000 image files in one playlist.
BioniX gives to the saved playlists the extention BIO and associate itself to 'BIO' files. This means that the wallpaper cycler will start automaticaly if you doubleclick a WAL file. BioniX Wallpaper has, in adition to the well known tile / stretch / center functions, 2 new smart functions: * smart stretch (if some of your pictures are bigger than your desktop size, BioniX will make them fit without cutting) and * smart tile (if some of your pictures are tiny, BioniX will tile them). This program has an incredible fast algorithm for displaying images / refreshing the desktop. The images from the playlist are displayed by the wallpaper changer randomly / shuffle or continuously. While running, the wallpaper manager skips invalid image files (that don't exist any more in your computer). Also, like Winamp, BioniX Wallpaper cycler has playlist navigation, which permits you to go back and next through the images. On Windows 98, it switches automatically between Active Desktop and normal desktop...

 The moral of the story is...
...spend the half hour making it yourself instead of searching for poorly-made freeware.
BioniX Wallpaper was made out to be a "free and light" application that was an "advanced" wallpaper changer. Unfortunately, the only correct term was "free": the interface is clumsy and unnecessarily complicated, the program doesn't support any kind of transitions, and it was VERY obstrusive. It littered my computers with icons!
All I needed was something to silently crossfade the wallpaper every now and then, and I wanted to save myself the 30 minutes of making it myself. In the end, I just wound up writing it anyway. Yeesh.

My Good and Bad thoughts about this program
Good program but it took a bit of time to figure out what I was supposed to do and how to get the settings set to my liking.
One problem that I have is the transparency of the background and that there is no way that I could find to make the background darker. I may have missed it.
The things I like is the wallpaper that came with the program was pretty neat and well done.
This program solves the task of changing my wallpaper on a daily basis with the pictures that I like so that I do not have to do it manually.

THE MASTER OF ALL WALLPAPER CHANGERS
I looked to the perfect wallpaper changer / manager for years as I have a collection of 60GB of pictures.
This is definitively the king of all.

Enjoying it
No issues, just download wallpapers, put them in a directory, and they randomize. If I had to think of something to complain about, I'd say the default timing is too ambitious @ 20 seconds, but, ask the next guy and he'd tell you 20 minutes it too patient =) Thanks for the work on the program.
